The following list includes national, state and provincial parks, private campgrounds and RV “Resorts”. Some would be considered “destinations”, while others are merely stopovers we’ve encountered en route. Our preferences are for places where the sites are spacious, the views interesting, the facilities clean and adequate, with friendly and professional management. We’re not particularly keen on urban locations, train or highway noise, or video arcades. Hookups are certainly a convenience, but some more primitive locations can be superb without them. Thus in the lists which follow, you’ll find RV parks that fit into virtually all categories. The sites are scattered through a well manicured woodsy area adjacent to a small lake.
I work close to the campground so I figured a early year break in on the new camper was in order. The campground host is very pleasant and if you call ahead you can reserve a spot with her help and she can make sure you are happy with your spot. Some spots are only 10 feet away from the bank and you can wake up and just feel the morning river mist.

Write a comment or add a photo Post JGrisham 2 months ago Great campground. Lots of outdoor activities for the whole family. Close to Leavenworth to go to town for shopping and the tree lighting festivities. Have not been in the summer, but we will plan to come back no matter the season. So our kids were able to get their sledding fix this trip.

We all loved our first trip in the motorhome, which we’ve only had for a week now. Maiden Voyages are supposed to be relatively close to home check but far away enough that it feels like a vacation check. Maiden Voyages are also intended to help suss out problems with the new rig, such as: When we arrived at the camp, we realized that there was no longer a vent hood above the bathroom.
Meaning that it flew off sometime during our drive. We had to cover up the hole using only things we had in the RV — so that rain wouldn’t come in through the 14″ x 14″ hole in the ceiling above the toilet. So we ended up driving around for the next week with a white kitchen trash bag tied around the hole, affixed with scotch tape and a bungee cord.
And I’m sorry to say it didn’t go well, and it involved the “F” word, and I’m still not really sure we know how it works. It was really fun to see other people’s setups He had houseplants that were set out on the picnic table to breathe, a little campstove, and a plastic wine glass he sipped from while he grilled his dinner. Best of all, our RV was right next to the playground!
The playground was the best part of this park, though, which was mainly asphalt and crammed-together RV spots. All-in-all, a perfect first outing.
